What I know and I think the civil war was based on, was giving the freedman rights. Since now they weren’t slaves anymore they had to find a job and a house to live, so most of them ended up working for their anterior masters, but what they wanted was their own land but they weren’t allowed to own land since they weren’t citizens of the United States. There was a lot of racism during those times, and the majority of the people from the south were against giving the black men any kind of rights although they were free already and were citizens from the United States according to the fourteenth amendment. Although they were free now and had their citizenship the government or the people were always trying to find ways to interpret the laws differently so the freedman can’t have a full access to all the rights, an example of this is when they took away the right to vote to the freeman. All this injustices kept going; the education at first was only to with people. Later on, the black people had their own schools but of course everything was separated, the withes from the blacks. Their rights were still being violated for instance; even if they got an education and went to college they were never going to get a job as good as a white man even if they had the same education and knowledge. I don’t know much about the civil war but what I do know is that there was a lot of racism involved and of course a bunch of injustices that was legal according to the eyes of the ones who had the power.
